Building Foundations

Speaking English is no longer enough; learning to read and write is just as important in today's modern world.  But the English language is complex and 'Phonics' has been proven to be the most successful and fastest way to learn how to read and write English.

In 2006, the UK government decided all school children must be taught to read and write using a synthetic phonics approach; it is now central to the UK curriculum.

What Does the Programme Cover?

The programme covers all the key sounds, or phonemes, that are needed to master reading and writing English. Children also develop pronunciation and vocab knowledge, and learn high frequency words that fall outside phonics such as /she/, /he/, /to/ etc.

After completing the full programme, every student will have all the knowledge and skills to read and write ANY English word. This provides the foundations for fluent, confident English readers and writers which are developed in our Grammar & Spelling and Bug Club Guided Reading programmes.

Free e-Books and Games after each Class

In addition to the live classes, each student gets access to their own exciting online world with hundreds of eBooks and interactive games that are allocated to each student, after every class, to enjoy in their own time.

The eBooks and games match what the student has learnt in the previous class and allow the student to practise independently. The eBooks also include a 'read-to-me' option as a model for the child's own fluent reading, and in-built quizzes to check their understanding.

Small Groups

Small groups with a maximum of 4 children run at scheduled times each week. The groups provide a fun way to learn with the chance for interactive conversation, whilst still allowing individual attention for each student due to the small class sizes.

Please note we don't recommend our groups for children under 7.

Class duration: 45 minutes

One-on-One

The duration and frequency of classes is tailored to meet the child's individual learning needs and can be arranged on days and times to suit you.

Dates and Timeline

The Phonics School does not follow the traditional academic year and we have new groups starting throughout the year.

Every class is also recorded and can be sent on request to students for them (or their parents) to watch again in their own time if they so wish. This also means, that if they miss a class for any reason, the student can catch up by watching the recorded lesson so they don't fall behind.

What is the Cost?

The group prices are:

1x class each week - 70 euros per month (approx 15 euros per class)

2x classes each week - 135 euros per month (approx 15 euros per class)

The cost for an individual class is 25 euros.

How is it Delivered?

Bug Club Phonics is delivered online from the comfort of your own home (or wherever you may be that day). Once enroled, you will receive a password to log on to the class from your computer, laptop, tablet or mobile phone.

All you need is a WiFi connection.

Each class is led by one of our experienced and qualified British teachers. The focus on each lesson is learning through fun with the use of a variety of interactive learning activities including BBC videos, CBeebies videos and a huge library of eBooks matching the students' level.

"We are grateful to have found Phonics school to aid in bettering Athena's language and communication skills. You have played a key role in developing her confidence with peers (since communication is key for the same and practising only her mother tongue at home, made external support essential).

To top it all I am only very glad that she found more or less a friend in Ms Donna. It had always been amazing to see her wait impatiently for each and every one of her sessions.

I am one who believes that the quest for knowledge is best accomplished with zest, and the zest could never have been acquired if not for the right teacher like Ms Donna. I only wish that we could give her learning platforms like yours always with teachers like Ms Donna in it to make her journey always exciting!"
