Who is it For?
Our Creative Writing programme is designed for children aged 5 to 11+ years and aligns with the UK primary school curriculum for English. It supports young writers in developing their storytelling abilities, vocabulary, sentence structure and ability to express ideas clearly and creatively.

This programme is suitable for those who speak English as a first language as well as those learning English as an additional language. It is recommended that children have a foundational understanding of English and basic sentence formation before starting the Creative Writing programme.
What Does the Programme Cover?
Built to inspire a love for writing, Creative Writing covers key elements of the UK primary school curriculum including:

Developing strong sentence structures and expanding vocabulary

Understanding story elements such as characters, settings and plots

Exploring different writing styles including fiction, poetry, and non-fiction

Learning to plan, draft, edit and improve written work

Using grammar and punctuation effectively in creative contexts

Through engaging activities, students will explore different genres and themes while immersing themselves in exciting storytelling adventures. Whether writing about magical lands, real-life experiences or persuasive arguments, each student will build the confidence and skills needed to become a fluent and imaginative writer.

Students will develop a deeper appreciation for writing, enhanced literacy skills and the confidence to express themselves both creatively and articulately.
Small Groups (not recommended for children under 7 years)
Our group classes have a maximum of four (4) students and take place at set times each week. This setup ensures interactive discussion, collaborative storytelling and individual attention for each student.

Group Class Duration: 2x 45 minute classes per week

New group classes are started throughout the year according to demand.
Individual Classes
For tailored learning, we recommend individual classes. The duration and frequency of classes can be customised to meet your child’s learning needs.

We recommended a minimum of 2x 30 minute individual classes per week.
​
With individual classes, you set your own schedule by choosing the days and times of your classes.
What is the Cost?
Additional Information
As an international organisation, The Phonics School does not follow the traditional school year and classes continue throughout all school and national holidays. If you need to cancel a class, we kindly ask for 24 hours advance notice.
Every class is recorded and can be sent to parents and students on request. This allows students to revisit lessons at their own pace or catch up on missed sessions to ensure continuous learning.
